Reba gets some makeup

So I ended up getting Matt's Red Coupe he called Reba. I love the car as-is, but there's some things I'd like to do to it for my own satisfaction, plus I think they would make it more marketable when I sell it (hopefully back to Matt).

Fist up was the paint. It's been forced to sit outside the last couple of years and the paint took a beating as a result. After seeing @66sprint6 polish work and I followed some link about single stage restoration I thought I'd give it a swirl myself. We'll call it Operation:Stage 1. So to that end I ordered up a bunch of crap to follow the steps that guy on autogeek took to bring back that single stage to a show car finish. a bunch of microfiber, Meguiars #7 and some carnuba wax.

Also ordered today Operation: Stage 2, also known as Speedo cable. PATC has a sale right now and I got the cable for $45. Can't beat that!. Can't wait to see how fast i'm going!!!!

Anyways, this post aint got much going on, but i'll get some pictures up when all this stuff comes in and I get to polishing the old girl up.

I can't help but think that car care products are like weight loss products. You feel like if you spend enough money it's going to work no matter what. Like just buying this crap I can sit it on the car and it will be all shiny again. Same as buying that treadmill and hanging clothes on it.

Technically...all you have to do with #7 is squirt it all over the car and walk away.  Its kinda like special sauce.

THEN you do kinda have to rub like hell to get it off

....Im gonna leave that one alone teheeteeheeheee

I do. That guy needs to buy it before I start sinking money into it and it goes up exponentially.

So, Reba moved on down to Mississippi. Thought i'd share how she ended up. I'd say I put in over 100 hours into the paint alone. I wanted to put the stock hood back on it, but it wouldn't clear the truck intake. I swapped on a car LS intake which meant new fuel rails, which meant new injectors, which all meant external regulator and stuff. That was it for performance mods as it was out of injector and I put 42's in it. That pepped it up a lot up top. I did a speedo gear can cable, hooked up the stock tach and such so that all stock gauges worked. I put in new carpet and headliner and put in sound deadener while I was at it. I replaced one headlight and both tails. I did all new badges and emblems, new door handles and power locks, and weatherstripping on doors. Repainted the window trims and replaced the cowl vent panel. New wiper arms and blade completed the look. Pics should tell the tale. It was a very very sharp coupe when I was done. Looking at this thread now it's hard for me to believe that paint would ever come out. Hours and hours and hours.... All worth it in the end result. Interior was mint, exterior was popping, and engine was thumpin. New owner called me the next week telling me how in love he was. I'll take it.

Ive never wanted a red Coupe but that car ALWAYS called out to me.  Like we talked about, had it been a 5.0/T5 car it woulda likely ended up being in my driveway had you ever decided to sell it at that point.

Thanks, y'all! That's 95% original paint. I had my paint guy touch some stuff up, but the direction was to paint as little as he had to. It turned out pretty good in the end. Paint was better than the green coupe, but interior in the green car was better. I'd like to have this car back....
