Another LS engine issue

4 posts in this topic

Clean looking 2008 truck, 173k, 5200 hrs.

Customer stated that when cold the oil pressure would not get to 40 psi, but after 5ish miles it would exceed 40.  Teed a mechanical gauge in with engine cold, built 20 psi at idle...took a while to get there.  Went to purge the air from the long plastic tubing....couldn't do that.  It was pumping air.   After engine reached operating temps the pressure rose and the air bled out.  Thank you Mr. Rubber O-Ring on the pickup tube?

LS owners beware.

O ring looked OK, but I rolled it in my hand and it broke.  New ring = much better pressure, 50 at cold idle, 70 ish reved a little.
