Wife's Daily Driver

OK here it is.  Seems kinda boring but it isn't.

1) It's turbo charged @ Intercooled

2) It's got lots decent equipment package and sound

3) Navigation

4) and it's getting 40MPG driving it around town and not a hybrid.

I drove it around town.  The horsepower is not impressive @151 but the torque is > 260 ft-lbs so it scoots.

That's awesome! Let us know how much gas mileage it gets on average. My dad's vw beetle has got 52 miles per gallon for a best average using ac in summer. So I bet yours being newer, after break-in, might do better.

It has this "eco score" thing in the Driver Information center when we got it and it recorded a maximum average over 25 miles of 55 MPG when the dealer went get it.  It's doing 40 on my wife's normal in town drive.

So you cruise in comfort with your good gas diesel mileage.

Fixed.

It's a pretty good car actually.  If not for the mileage buy it for the power alone.

Alan.... When it's paid off and the wife gets her next car, will this be the next Buick?

I've seen some TD's make big TQ and rip down the 1/4.

It's only been filled up twice.

Average MPG for the 1547 is 35MPG.

One long highway trip to see our folks where it got 42 MPG

Diesel is higher than giraffe ***** in Huntsville @ 2.99 gallon but it's $2.49 in Hartselle, AL

Ive always thought it would be awesome to start getting some smaller diesel cars in the US but they will need to up the MPG a bit more.  Kathleen's Focus Sedan, automatic gets 38-40 around town and we average anywhere from 40 (lowest) to 45mpg on road trips with it on the cheap stuff.

...and for some reason we still take my ST on road trips (30mpg and uses 93) lol.  I think its because I usually drive and my car is more fun  :3gears:

I dont know personally...could be numerous things.  I also know some places over yonder measure differently and have inflated numbers.  I also know that you can do some things to squeeze a bit more out than normal but got bored doing it and just do the easy stuff now...inflated tires, dont let car sit idling, coast to stops if you can and (with MANual trans) leave car in gear on decel with foot off clutch to shut off injectors when coasting to a stop etc.  I think Aminga might see more MPG once the weather warms up a little as well, cooler weather brings my mpg way down so Im interested to see how it effects a diesel.

Yep, driving style is key!  Kathleen could care less about squeezing out the MPGs yet she wanted a MPG friendly car  .  Then she always talks about how Im gonna ruin her MPG average by driving her car like I do...and yet it goes up!   :jiggy:
