to flush or not to flush...transmissions 101

this seems to be a very opinionated subject and so I was wondering what everyone's opinion on changing out trans fluid is? I've got an 07 Tahoe that just hit 100k miles, so my time is here.

the newer vehicles have a mesh filter so some say that they don't need to be changed. On the other hand, if you don't change it and flush the system, are you just throwing all the debris back into the lines?

Should be a 4l65e or a 4l80e.  Either has a standard filter setup.  I wouldn't "flush" it.  But I would drain the fluid and put a new filter in it.

There needs to be some independent research on trans fluid changes.   As someone with much GM experience, I don't know which is best.
